External_Hard_Disk_Drives

How valuable is your data, can your external storage survive a four foot fall. If your are concerned about data maintenance, storage or recovery then this  shuttle was meant for you. .

☺First, it is shipped with a shock resistance silicone bumper, a USB Type-C cable and a Type C to Type A cable. Simply, this rugged Shuttle was designed to withstand strenuous conditions. Because after a fall "LaCie" will continue to operate. For example it's rated to operate after a four foot fall. Platter drives would not be able to work after a fall. Because the drives heads would be damage. A lower mass drive will always carry less kinetic energy during a fall. This is one reason why LaCie is ahead of the external drive market.
The external drive is capable of withstanding up-to a 1000 pounds. This drive was built for the ruggedness of users while protecting is data with in a RAID 0 or RAID ! status. Effectively increases ruggedness example, the dual drive capability allow you to completely destroy one drive while, securing its data on the other. This unit is shipped with a RAID 0, allowing access to 8TB storage capacity. The RAID 1 settings mirrors the drive and offers only 4TB storage but, produces a much slower performance. The shock resistance combined with an internal shock mount, IP54 standard, it’s also rated to withstand accidental run over by a vehicle. In addition this drive is almost waterproof, a rainfall no problem. The water resistance allows it to be carried in the rain.

But if you work in marine like conditions a IP68, HD830 or the LaCie IP67 will likely to preform better. The interchangeable power module allows for foreign and domestic use. No need to worry about power consumption, use the in box adapter when tethered to a USB 3.0 or earlier. Download the LaCie RAID Manager and toolkit it lets you toggle between settings and keep a up to date firmware. The toolkit offers utilities like: encryption, mirror, sync and data migration. All while holding a proprietary speed of 277 according to Crystal DiskMark.

Dust holds no advantage over LaCie’s higher level of ruggedness, if you can put 8TB to use then price can not justify this constellation of feature. To conclude, two-drive Rugged RAID Shuttle offers the choice of high capacity and fast performance (in striped mode), or of half the capacity with all data mirrored on the second disk. It's ideal for anyone who works in the field and produces oodles of data.

LaCie is owned by Seagate, so many of the tools and features are comparable to Seagate disks.
